Abstract: Managing and protecting the environment in Vietnam is the responsibility of the State, the political system, and the entire population, based on research results from various scientific fields. Sociology is one such discipline that provides theoretical foundations and research methods, thus collecting objective, scientific data for the planning and execution of environmental management and protection policies. Therefore, this article discusses the role of sociology in the current environmental management and protection in Vietnam.
