Abstract: Even though the pandemic has been complicatedly developing in the country since 2020, online newspapers such as VietnamPlus and The gioi & Viet Nam have accomplished their political mission. They have disseminated information quickly and timely about Vietnam’s activities in foreign affairs, the issues of East Sea and Vietnam’s actions of combating the pandemic. To improve the effectiveness of external information activities in the future, these newspapers need to execute solutions synchronically, from commanding to organizing contents, methods, and resources for external information activities. Particularly, it is also required to see the resources as the key element and determine solutions to organizing contents in order to enhance the quality of external information activities.
Abstract: Web-based surveys are becoming more and more popular in the social sciences and media studies. The rapid adoption of this familiar research method on a new platform has challenged common knowledge in methodology and sampling. Within this cognitive framework, the article focuses on analyzing some issues related to sampling in web-based surveys in the field of media.
Abstract: The Youth newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc, published its first issue 97 years ago (on June 21, 1925), marking its birth and development of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Since then, under the Party's leadership, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always promoted its pivotal role, pioneering at the ideological - cultural front, making great contributions to the cause of national construction and development. One of the noble missions of the press is social supervision and criticism, contributing to the fight against negative phenomena, toxic and hostile information and building a more civilized and modern society.
Solutions to improve the quality of electronic Journal of Political Theory and Communication in current period
Abstract: Integrating into the development trend of online newspapers in the digital era, after more than a year in operation, the electronic Journal of Political Theory and Communication has brought into play its strength and affirmed its position and role in the overall development of the AJC (Academy of Journalism and Communication) as well as its reputation in society. However, its operation still has challenges, limitations and shortcomings. The article proposes a number of solutions to improve the quality and performance of the Journal in the coming time.
Abstract: Social criticism of the press refers to the situation when journalists and press organizations offer thoughts or suggestions to improve and get rid of flaws, sluggishness, or stagnation about a policy or regulation which will soon be legislated or put into practice. It is a necessary activity to assist the promulgated policies to be adjusted and developed effectively in accordance with the interests of the majority of the population. Press agencies, particularly journalists, must have a clear understanding of their tasks, responsibilities, and required capacities to perform this task successfully. It must be specifically situated in the context of contemporary society with technology 4.0 and the rapid growth of social networks.
Abstract: Social networking sites have easily become places where sharing and spreading news are at a faster rate than any other platforms, despite efforts to control from governments, international organizations, and technology firms. Spreading fake news and rumors about the COVID-19 pandemic not only hinders health organizations' anti-epidemic work but also causes social unrest and political conflicts, even life-threatening in many cases. Therefore the following important tasks are being concerned by countries: identifying fake news, methods of disseminating and spreading fake news through social media and search engines, public awareness trends in the process of acknowledging fake news, finding solutions and measures to reduce the harmful effects of fake news.
Abstract: Vietnam has numerous policies on press development, especially on the issue of strategy formulation, development planning, and management of the press system. Investment has been focused on the fields of training and fostering human resources in expertise, professionalism, and management of press activities, scientific research; and application of modern technology for press agencies. However, for the press to operate more efficiently in the current digital transformation context, training human resources needs to be a top priority. This article points out 8 issues that require attention in innovating journalism training and retraining activities in the context of Vietnam's current digital transformation.
Abstract: Applying artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of journalism assists journalists to automate certain steps in the process and creating some contents. However, to make a bigger impact on the public, journalistic products require empathy, inventiveness, and connection with readers. Therefore, this should be the effective coordination between humans and AI rather than being mutually exclusive. In modern journalism, it is essential for journalists to have a greater grasp of AI as they need a certain level of transparency to update and develop information relevant to society and work issues. At the same time as AI technology will gradually "personalize" the process to suit each journalist, journalists must be aware of the AI working system's processes such as outputs, operating systems, and what they can do to affect their own AI.
Abstract: World Radio Day is observed annually on February 13 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The theme of World Radio Day 2022 is "To radio to trust". The key issues facing the radio business in Vietnam today are why UNESCO places so much emphasis on "trust" and what remedies might help modern radio retain the trust.
Mass media impact is one of the areas that receive special attention frommedia researchers and social media managers. Most researchers agree on somecognitive aspects related to comprehension, distinguishing manifestations of mediainfluences, specific characteristics and relationships between messages and mediatransmissions such as independent variables in consideration of their effects onrecipients. However, issues regarding the extent, timing, methods, and reasons fordifferent levels of influence on parts of public have long been controversial amongmedia scholars. The article reviews some popular case studies and researchmethods in order to clarify this heated debate.
Abstract: Journalism is a crucial means of mass communication in social life. It not only reflects reality by delivering the most up-to-date and accurate information on current domestic and international issues, orienting information and public opinion, but also plays a function of social supervision and criticism. Moreover, in the context of national reform and strong international integration, the press’s role in providing information, orientation, social supervision and criticism becomes more important than ever. This article clarifies some theoretical and practical issues of the press in performing the function of social supervision and criticism as a means to promote socialist democracy and ensure people's roles as owners of society in the new situation.
