Identifying fake news, its spreading mechanisms and some solutions to minimize its harmful effects
Abstract: Social networking sites have easily become places where sharing and spreading news are at a faster rate than any other platforms, despite efforts to control from governments, international organizations, and technology firms. Spreading fake news and rumors about the COVID-19 pandemic not only hinders health organizations' anti-epidemic work but also causes social unrest and political conflicts, even life-threatening in many cases. Therefore the following important tasks are being concerned by countries: identifying fake news, methods of disseminating and spreading fake news through social media and search engines, public awareness trends in the process of acknowledging fake news, finding solutions and measures to reduce the harmful effects of fake news.
