100 Years of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025): A Glorious Journey
According to the Head of the Central Commission for Communication and Education, the Vietnamese press is undergoing major transformation in its organizational structure, human resources, digital transition, journalistic mindset, media forms, media economy, and technology. Increasing attention is being paid to developing a healthy media ecosystem and recognizing the public’s role and societal opinion in journalism. Numerous journalistic works have helped identify and promote new models, exemplary individuals, and acts of kindness; they have also contributed to public discourse, policy development, and the legal framework. Vietnamese journalists have shown steadfastness and courage in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and misconduct, actively participating in Party-building and strengthening the political system. They play an important role in defending the Party's ideological foundation and countering false or hostile narratives. At the same time, they have been instrumental in foreign affairs communication and the protection of national sovereignty over borders, seas, and islands.
Several journalism awards have been professionally and rigorously organized, helping to elevate the quality, capacity, and prestige of media organizations and journalists alike. These include the National Press Awards; the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award for Party-building journalism; the Dien Hong Award for coverage of the National Assembly and People’s Councils; the Grand Unity Press Award; the award for reporting on anti-corruption, waste, and misconduct; and the journalism prize on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle.
"As we celebrate the centenary of Vietnam's revolutionary press, we are not only honoring its proud tradition and revolutionary milestones but also recognizing its current stature. With nearly 800 media outlets and a contingent of 41,000 well-trained, courageous, and technologically adept journalists, Vietnam’s journalism is making strong strides toward regional and global prominence," affirmed Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa.
