Online Talk Show “From Gen Z to Gen AI: Media in the New Era” Offers Fresh Perspectives on the Communications Industry in the Digital Age
Communications, advertising, and public relations remain highly attractive fields for young people full of energy and creativity. Over the years, these disciplines have consistently seen high competitiveness in admissions, with growing interest and demand. The talk show served as an open forum where experts, lecturers, and students exchanged ideas about the shifting media landscape in the digital age—helping prospective students envision clear academic and career paths in the field.
The event featured esteemed and experienced speakers who offered inspiring stories from within the media profession:
- MA. Đỗ Thị Hải Đăng – CEO of LeBros Communications and lecturer in the Faculty of Public Relations and Advertising
- MA. Nguyễn Thị Vân Trang – Deputy Director of the International Bachelor’s Program in Advertising, PR, and Branding
- Editor Nguyễn Thành Phong – Vietnam Television (VTV), alumnus of Cohort 36, Faculty of Public Relations and Advertising
- Nguyễn Minh Vũ – Student of the 2022 Cohort, International Bachelor’s Program in Advertising, PR, and Branding
The first part of the talk show provided an overview of the media industry’s digital transformation. MA. Nguyễn Thị Vân Trang elaborated on how the International Program actively tracks trends and equips students with updated communication strategies. Student Nguyễn Minh Vũ contributed a practical Gen Z perspective, discussing how AI is integrated into learning and showcasing the “native instincts” Gen Z brings into the industry.
The second part of the talk show focused on the influence of AI on communication careers. The panelists agreed that AI will not fully replace humans, but those who know how to use AI effectively will gain a significant competitive edge. From content generation, writing briefs, and video editing to creating virtual influencers, technology is proving to be both a powerful tool and a source of ethical and copyright challenges. Minh Vũ pointed out that Gen Z must cultivate soft skills, continuous learning habits, and critical thinking to avoid being overwhelmed by the rapid tech wave. The discussions reaffirmed that AI cannot replace emotions, connections, or individuality—traits that remain uniquely human and central to impactful communication.
In the final section, the speakers introduced the current academic programs, with particular emphasis on the International Bachelor’s Program in Advertising, PR, and Branding. MA. Đỗ Thị Hải Đăng and MA. Nguyễn Thị Vân Trang clearly distinguished this international program from the standard and high-quality tracks offered by the Faculty of Public Relations and Advertising. Minh Vũ shared his reasons for choosing the international track and praised the program’s modern, practice-oriented teaching methodology. The event also provided admissions details for 2025, including four enrollment rounds and the opportunity to shorten the program by one year for applicants with IELTS scores of 6.0 or higher.
Beyond academic discussions, participants engaged in a mini-game involving questions about the admissions process and training programs. Many attractive gifts were awarded, including MDX teddy bears, exclusive tote bags, and the industry-focused book “The Strategic Public Relations Toolkit.”
The talk show “From Gen Z to Gen AI: Media in the New Era” successfully created a multidimensional, open, and practical dialogue space—helping young people gain deeper insights into the future of the communications field and better prepare for their academic and career journeys. Innovation - the “key” to developing television in the digital age
Abstract: In the digital age, communication is undergoing profound changes in both the production and reception of information. Once regarded as the “king” of journalism in the 20th century, television is now facing numerous challenges from the Internet, social media, online video platforms, and the rise of AI, Big Data, and VR/AR. These factors create competitive pressure, to the extent that predictions have been made about the “death of television” in the face of platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, TikTok, or Facebook. To overcome these difficulties and to achieve stronger development, television must innovate and adapt in order to maintain its role in shaping public opinion and reaffirm its position as an important source of information and entertainment in the digital era.
