Political theory Tuesday, 19:22 25-05-2021

The birth and development of social media created the opportunities and challenges for all the countries in the world at different scale, degree and essence. If political communication is to promote Party’s ideology, social media creates both opportunities and challenges for all of its components, including: subject, object, content, method, means and effectiveness of political communication. In this article, we focused our discussion on the influence of social media on subject and object of political communication.

Foreign policy of the Cuban revolution: a legacy of resilience

Abstract: This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the historical foundations and ideological structure shaping the foreign policy of the Cuban Revolution, emphasizing its continuity with the nation’s long struggle for independence and sovereignty. From the legacy of the Mambí Army, the republican resistance, and José Martí’s ideal of national unity, Cuban diplomacy first emerged as a tool to seek recognition from the Latin American community. After the January 1959 Revolution, this policy was systematically consolidated, oriented toward building an independent, sovereign diplomacy grounded in the core principles of international law, such as non-interference, sovereign equality, peace promotion, and solidarity for development. Influenced by Marxist thought and Cuba’s unique geostrategic position, the country became an active player in international affairs, including the Missile Crisis, the Non-Aligned Movement, and solidarity campaigns in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The study particularly underscores the central role of Cuba’s struggle against the U.S. economic and financial blockade—a policy that has caused severe harm to the Cuban people’s livelihood. The article also highlights Cuba’s consistent foreign policy positions on the global stage: rejecting all forms of hegemony and intervention, demanding the return of Guantánamo, safeguarding sovereignty, and advocating for a multipolar, fair, and democratic world order.

Abstract: Paradiplomacy, or subnational diplomacy, has become an increasingly significant dimension of international relations in the context of globalization and decentralization. In Vietnam, local diplomacy plays a vital role in the realization of the country’s foreign policy objectives, particularly in linking security, development, and international position. This article develops a theoretical framework for understanding how Vietnam formulates and implements paradiplomatic policies. It adopts a policy analysis approach based on the “ends–means–ways” and linear model, adapted to the Vietnamese political-administrative context. The framework emphasizes both vertical coordination (top-down guidance from the central level) and horizontal interaction (bottom-up initiatives from provinces and cities), reflecting the hybrid nature of Vietnam’s paradiplomacy as both a delegated and an autonomous practice within the unified foreign policy system.

Abstract: At present, hostile forces are aggressively implementing the strategy of "peaceful evolution" with increasing intensity and urgency. Democracy and human rights are being used as pretexts to incite disorder, disrupt stability, and undermine political and social security, while also attempting to divide national unity. Their ultimate goal is to destabilize the political system, weaken, and eventually overthrow the leadership of the Communist Party, thereby eliminating the socialist regime in Vietnam.

The expansion of the mass movement in all social movements under the leadership of the proletarian party is the most notable historical feature of the people's democratic revolutionary era. The birth and development of a new culture and art in Viet Nam during the people's democratic revolution was associated with the fight for national independence and reunification. Recognizing the Party's leadership role in the process of building a new culture and art during progressive revolutionary resistance wars has created conditions for the harmonious development of the people's culture and art.
