Suong Nguyet Anh: A Brilliant Woman in the Challenge of History

Suong Nguyet Anh, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Khue is the daughter of the visually impaired and patriotic poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu. She had undergone hardship and difficulty since she was small. She was born when the country was invaded. When her husband died, she remained single to take care of her only daughter, who then passed away. Worse, as she got old, she became visually impaired like her father. Life misery seemed to carry her away into extreme darkness. However, Nguyen Thi Khue had always overcome the challenge to live a meaningful life for the family and society. Her aspiration translated “fire” into her journalistic works, prose and poetry, which made her name as a talented woman and the first female editor in the history of Viet Nam’s press.
