Improving the Students’ Confidence in English Communication at the Academy of Journalism and Communication: Practical Recommendations
With the view to improve the confidence in communicating in English by first-year students at the Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC), the author initiated and experimented the model for practising English speaking skill in real-life environment immersed with foreign language. The data collected from 140 students, who are learning English at AJC shows that students have made remarkable improvement in learning motivation, confidence, English communication skills and other related skills. This research also helped the researchers and lecturers to develop clear understanding of designing English practice activities, which are suitable to a mix of students.

These are: renewing the teaching content of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought and our Party's policies; improving training quality, requiring students to grasp the opportunities and challenges in the current process of national construction and defense; educating students to always act by the people and serve the people.

Abstract: During the development process, the philosophy has been shaped and developed, imbued with the guidelines and strategies for training and fostering cadres of the Party and State as well as in accordance with learners and specific conditions of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) throughout historical periods. The article gives an overview of the HCMA's philosophy of training and fostering in recent years. Moreover, it proposes some recommendations to thoroughly grasp this philosophy in HCMA training and fostering programs today.
